Matching your food with your environment

Matching your food with your environment

Chengdu has quite a lot of rain the winter months, so to counter act this dampening effect, the locals eat vast amounts of spicy food. Chilis  are not only hot in nature but also have a drying effect making them perfect for living in damp climates. Chilis also release endorphins  making you feel better, which would explain why they eat the stuff year round even in the heat of the summer.
