Tui Na Massage
Every Culture has its own style of massage and China is no exception. As with most things that belong to Chinese medicine. Tui Na is based on the same principles as acupuncture. We use the meridians and acu points. Each different stroke corresponds to a different function. perhaps you wish to promote sleep, tonify and organ or reduce another. Tui Na can be used on its own but also complements other therapies such as cupping and acupuncture.
One particular aspect of Chinese Tui Na is that it is used extensively with children for coughs, constipation, diarrhoea and other conditions. The reason why this is so effective with children is that children’s energy is high and usually near the surface, so this can be manipulated and provide therapeutic effect. I also can use an electro acupuncture pen with children and it is not invasive and can still activate the acu points. When children come to the clinic, I will usually treat with Tui Na massage first followed by the Electro acupuncture pen and finally needles. This way if children are a bit nervous about the needles, we already have a good treatment in place with the massage and the pen before introducing the needles.
